A Taste of Home

So tonight, I finally had a "home-cooked" meal. Since the kids are out of school all week--lucky me--I had ten a few extra hours to decide what to make for dinner (and then prepare it). So I went with a personal favorite: yard bird*. (For all you non-country-hicks out there, that means chicken.) And adding my bit of "healthiness" into the meal, I decided to just add some veggies and make campfire chicken!

Yummmmm....

I have to admit, I was kind of scared when I started to season the chicken and it smelled nothing like the seasoning at home. But after putting the corn, carrots, potatoes, chicken, and spices into the foil and letting it cook for and hour, it turned out great. Believe me, it was soooo good. Best meal I have had here yet. And I actually left the dinner table feeling full. That is a first (here)!!

So thank goodness that Mary Harrison once tried to rip off a Cracker Barrel recipe! Because it has provided me such a delicious taste of home!

  1. Odd that you would choose one of Mary's famous recipes. Sounds like you miss her
